The Rakitnica Rivers sprigs from several slopes of the Bjelasnica Mountain, near the village of Rakitnica, and flows into the Neretva River at the intersection of the Bjelasnica, Visocica, and Prenj Mountains, near the Boracko Lake.
This small mountain river carved its way through the rocks, creating a series of canyons, rapids, waterfalls and calm basins. Passing between the mountains Bjelasnica and Visocica, the Rakitnica River formed an attractive canyon, whose most beautiful parts are difficult to access. There are very few bridges on the canyon on paths connecting scattered villages.
Due to its unique beauty and inaccessibility, Rakitnica is a real challenge for alpinists, fishermen and many nature lovers.
