THE ZENICA-DOBOJ CANTON
The Zenica-Doboj Canton is located in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it encompasses 12 municipalities - Breza, Doboj - Jug, Kakanj, Maglaj, Olovo, Tesanj, Usora, Vares, Visoko, Zavidovici, Zenica, Zepce. The capital is Zenica, the railway and road hub and well-known mining and industrial center.
The area of the canton stretches nearby streams of the Bosna, Krivaja and Usora Rivers and their tributaries, which are rich in fish and abound with rapids and canyons. The neighboring area is overgrown with deciduous and coniferous forests inhabited by game, where various medicinal herbs and berries grow.
There are springs of thermal water in Olovo and Ticici near Kakanj. The most popular excursion site is Bistricak near Zenica.
The most important monuments of this are the fortresses in Tesanj, Maglaj, Vranduk, Bobovac, Old Town Visoki. Also there are many old mosques, churches and synagogues.
